A true afficionado! Buddy's the guy, though--he's been consistently getting better and better for longer than just about anyone--even Jeff Beck, though I wouldn't presume to compare--it's all subjective.
@gerundive Charlie Patton was playing guitar behind his back as early as 1916. Many followed, preceding Watkins & Hendrix, most notably: T-Bone Walker, Guitar Slim, Chuck Berry, & Buddy Guy, all of whom also played with their teeth.
You are obviously more knowledgeable on the subject than I--but I'm gratified that ANYONE knows such info about a period so obscure to most people. Do you realize how few people have any notion how long Jimi paid his dues with such artists as "The Interns", "The Isleys", Little Richard, Buzzy Lindhart, Curtis Knight, and God knows how many other artists before he met Chas Chandler of the Animals in Greenwich Village and came into his own?
@gerundive: Jimi's only 2yrs younger than Beverly. By early March '64 Jiml'd recorded "Testify" w/The Isley Brothers, & his still-amazing accompaniment on Don Covay's "Mercy". (side note: Shortly afterwards, the Rolling Stones covered "Mercy".They had to completely re-arrange it, finding it impossible to decipher the as-yet unnamed Jimi's difficult chords & fills.) I'd bet that any learning done went the -other- direction!
If I'm not mistaken, I saw her as solo guitarrist with Doctor Feelgood and the Interns in Louisville, Kentucky in '62 or '63. I believe Jimi Hendrix in his youth learned a thing or two from this lady!

@gerundive
However, Beverly DID use a few stage gimmicks that Jimi later displayed, such as playing behind her neck and picking with her teeth.
