Over 20 members of Unite the Union and their supporters came to demonstrate and unfurled their banners in their protest against the blacklist in the construction trade at the The Rock in Bury on Thursday 27th, August 2009
Once again the gvmnt has failed because the changes made to legislation only covers 'employees' of construction companies, when many in the construction industry are contracted or subcontracted and are self employed. These individuals are not covered at all. The illegal behaviour therefore continues.
Many of those blacklisted were not just union officials but health and safety officers, in the process of protecting workers from harm and in their service to the protection of human life.
The only way to stop it is therefore to boycott these frequently large, illegally operating organisations.
