Oct 2 - As the vice presidential debate got underway Democratic nominee Joe Biden charged that Republican presidential candidate John McCain is "out of touch" on the U.S economy.

Palin, McCain's running mate, quickly defended McCain, saying the Republican presidential candidate had been referring to the American work force when he made the comment.
