Everything you wanted to know about this AWD beast and then some...

Here is the new Turnigy Monster Beatle.
Brushless 4811kv, 25A ESC, 2S-1300mAh LIPO. (Do not recommend using a 3S or 4S, motor/ecs need upgrading if you want more power)

It's $70 from hobbyking before shipping, and is great bang for it's buck.
It's mostly plastic, which makes it economic, it's not for serious bashing, as the plastic parts will break, but it's still great fun. It would be awesome if it were CNC aluminum and CF like a CopterX 450 Pro, but we can't ask for too much here.
All in all, I would recommend this thing for some fast driving fun!

Commonly broken plastic parts below, I haven't broken anything else yet. Everything I broke, I repaired using thread and thin CA. I've also rebuilt the towers with sheet aluminum, so mostly, you can repair this car from household parts, except the main gear, but I've been lucky not to strip that, probably because I threadlocked the motor and motor mount, and made the gear mesh tight. You should do the same or else it'll strip easily.

Buy some clips too:

Front C Bracket: (I could see these breaking, and they're hard to repair so might as well buy them)

I HOPE YOU READ THIS, AND I HAVE SAVED YOU FROM THE SAME MISTAKE.

  • Could I use 3s if i add a fan on to the esc and motor?

  • @kGCryTeK

It's only designed for 2S. If you add enough cooling to ensure you don't overheat the motor or ESC, then it would work save, but it would be easier to just upgrade the size of the motor and ESC.

  • If this car is the same as the acme pioneer and im 99% sure it is STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!

  • @DeathlyHall0w

It could very well be the acme pioneer, ya I agree, STAY AWAY FROM IT!!! WARNING! EXTREME FUN!!! You'll find yourself totally addicted and may never be bored again! It also causes loss in hours of your day as you go through episodes of rampage on the streets! LOL. Ya it's great fun.

  • @DavidSunshine867 literally every gear stripped on my car about 10 times and the shock towers broke the shocks themselves broke and leaked fluid the body is cracked in several places, the lower arms snap loose with any collision above 0.1 mph, and then they break, the wheels cracked in several places, stock radio goes to about 30 meters. This is all from running it on the street and very mild collisions Almost no offroad, and one ramp of 10 cm high snapped both shock towers.

Ya, it's pretty weak plastic, cheap car, cheap plastic. I would only go as far as saying it's a good car "for the price".

The E-Revo is by far the car to be used for taking jumps and bashing around, it's worth the price in my opinion, $300 ish.

The Turnigy is not a basher, but good fun for $80, just beware of the lack in durability. The 2.4ghz radios should provide more than enough distance though.

    Cheers.

Ya, that's what the car was designed for, 2S 2200mAh, but double check on the length, make sure it fits.

It could be designed for the 2S 1800mAh actually, since it's a little shorter, I think that might fit properly.

  • what about Li-po 2200mah 20c 2s, works fine ?

  • @rwx4

It's a 4S, but that'll burn out your ESC and motor, gotta upgrade if you want to use more than 2S safely.

3S works but could still overheat.

  • Hi,

    Nice car, I have a Q about it :

from 22:45 to 25:50 which battery did you use 2s or 3s?
