  • Love this song. Of course non better than Donny Hathaway. So many do it well, Aretha, Chaka and Regina Belle. I guess Regina's version is my fav. Love you Chaka.

  • @BLAQUEMUSCLE daaaaaaaaamn lol

  • wow, she looks hot in that photo! I never thought of her being that good looking

  • I'm a little disappointed that no one has mentioned the masterful (and still best) version by the composer of the song, the great Donny Hathaway in 1973. If you haven't heard the album "Extensions of a Man" , by Donny , which included this song, you're missing one of truly great, all time albums.

Thanks so much for explaining it the way you did. Makes absolute sense! Now I can finally add Chaka's version to my playlist...

  • @hollidayevery yes it was on an album by the British Electric Foundation ,a compiliation album masterminded by the guys behind Heaven 17

  • Was this version released on a particular UK album release or as a single only?

  • @blacquegurl69

I love BOTH versions but I prefer CHAKA'S version. Aretha's sticks to the tried and true classic gospel sound whereas Chaka takes it into a whole different direction with a fresher approach. It's a tougher more modern sounding version with a hint of militancy. An apt comparison would be Aretha's "Martin Luther King" to Chaka's tougher "Malcolm X". The message is the same but the sentiments and HOW they relay that message are two entirely different poles apart.

  • Chaka's version has a different twist to it...it feels positive

  • I love it! she put her chaka sound to it! off the hook!
