Norodom Sihanouk continues to be one of the most controversial figures in Southeast Asia's turbulent, and often tragic, postwar history. Admirers view him as one of the country's great patriots, whose insistence on strict neutrality kept Cambodia out of the maelstrom of war and out of the revolution in neighboring Vietnam for more than fifteen years. Sihanouk was all of these things--patriot, neutralist, embodiment of the nation's destiny, eccentric, rigid defender of the status quo, and promoter of the worst sort of patron-client politics.

Samdech Euv Sihanouk made terribly mistakes in his foreign policy by letting all Vietcong use Cambodia as their bases against American imperialists and its lackeys of South Vietnam, who started enjoying dropping bombs on Cambodia freely as they liked. American imperialists like French colonialists only listened with their one ear to Yuon Leaders....and this is the worst foreign policy he really made awfully mistakes with Yuon Vietminh and Vietcong.

Sihanouk knew he could not force 60,000 Vietcong or more out of his tiny Cambodia (According to Angkor Borei, about 200,000 Yuon Vietcong being armed from heads to their toes.) He's real in a big trouble with his bad foreign policy with Vietcong and Yuon leaders who always had different aims from his so he secretly told his Prime Minister Lon Nol to stage a coup overthrowing his Sangkum Reastre Niyum out of power.

I would like to check that claim for sure because What Khmer Historian had written LONG TIME ago that there were NO MORE Khmer KING had "VARAMAN"since 12 or 13 century Perhaps? And if you are correct ,WHY Khmer History which was TAUGHT in school during 60-70(when I was in school) clearly said that "Preah Bat TRAR SORK PA-EM".Why King Norodom Sihanouk did not fight to correct that BIG MISTAKE in our History?

@khmer1jeat Yeah if the King is like this stupid video said, we didn't have Independence in 1953, and the Vietnamese troop would have a total control on Cambodia since 1980s. I remember during King Sihanouk regime, Cambodia had car tire factories, had tractors on rice fields, Khmer Boxing was famous, Art and songs were great and many other more. Without him, Khmer would be different and there would be no independence in 1953 and Vietnam would control Cambodia since the 80s till now. Sure, a king has to make decision, Sihanouk seemed to make the wrong decision all the tme that cause so many Cambodians' life. He allowed his youn wife who control his dick to make decisions. We as Khmer lost so much land and lives during his watch as a leader in Cambodia. I wonder how many level of Hell will he and his wife go when they leave this earth?

@khmer1jeat Being cheated? Does It mean our king was silly? If so, our people must had been silly too to considered him as a leader of Cambodia. Mistake is mistake. You can't just say he was being cheated and that's all. Wasn't it his fault? then whose fault? Being a leader of a country must have a big responsibility. It's about life. Many lives.
