DEPECHE MODE: Depeche Mode comenzó a incubarse cuando en 1976 se conocieron Vince Clarke y Andrew Fletcher, ambos teclistas en la misma ciudad. Deciden formar juntos un grupo, cuyo nombre era "No Romance in China". Tras un breve periplo, se separan. En 1979 Clarke forma un nuevo grupo, "French Look", junto al músico Martin Gore. Poco después se une Fletcher. A partir de ese momento, el nombre del grupo pasa a ser "Composition of Sound".

En 1980 fichan al cantante David Gahan para llevar la voz del grupo. Queda así formado el grupo definitivo. Solo quedaba cambiarle el nombre y ya tenemos a Depeche Mode.

Tras un periodo de rodaje del grupo, en el que destacan por un uso intensivo de los sintetizadores, Depeche Mode realizan algunas pequeñas actuaciones en locales de su ciudad. A raiz de ello, se deciden a grabar un primer tema, titulado "Photographic".

1976 it Definitely the wrong year. This has to be around late 1980 or early 81 (Gahan joined around May of 1980)
