  • Hi Shawn

Is the 'Flying Wedge' applied to the full swing as well? I tried but it's really awkward for me and I can't whip the club (can't get the feel) with the lower-case Y. Thanks!

  • That's OK! Mike Weir can't do it either! :)

He has not really changed his arm motion since going to S&T;biomechanically, it is pretty much impossible to do...have a look at the last part in the "Golf Pro Lesson Golf Swing Medicine" when we apply the momentum of the medicine ball to the golf swing's arm motion; also have a look at the "Golf Pro Lesson Arm Motion"...

    Thanks again! Shawn

  • Hey Shawn, really enjoying the dvd. Does this video show up fuzzy on your pc? Looks like you recorded in reduced quality or something. Bring back the hi-def! Thanks. :)

  • You are right!

    don't know what happened there; I will try to re-load it;

    Shawn

  • Won't shots go drastically lower with your hands that much forward?

  • Good answer from theestrogenius there; Thanks!

But to answer, yes; you need a balance in there...the coolest stat I heard from the tour is that the average 6 iron on tour has 16 degrees of launch angle; pretty cool huh?

And like pecky said below, at one point hitting too low will rob you of spin at lower distances; Shawn

  • @u2b9876 Post a vid of you taking a better shot than that and I'll accept what you said. I got a lesson from him last summer and it was the best thing I ever did for my golf game.

  • The first chip, from the "head on" camera angle, there was no divot. The second chip, from the green camera angle, there was a divot. Also, I didn't see any back spin on the ball?

  • Shawn,

I got your DVD for Christmas - the chip shot section, as you also show here - is outstanding. I don't know why more golfers don't hit their short shots like this. I practiced and what is amazing is that it helps me go from being "mechanical" to "feeling" the short shot. Which = relaxation and straight nice accurate chips. Why didn't I learn about you before November? Dying to get outdoors and shoot a new P.B. You are by far the best golf instructor. Congrats and many thanks. Dave

  • 1:54 something flys across the screen, a golf ball?

  • I tried this chipping/striking method tonight and managed to get my first chip in of the year :), Thanks Shawn all the videos of yours that I have watched have benefited me

  • This video was to mainly point out the fundamentals of spin and the elements you need to produce it; yes, on a longer shot with need to hinge to get the ball there, you can produce more spin; the harder you compress the ball, the more spin you get...to compress, you need hands forward.

    Thanks for the question! Shawn
