Khurshid aka Irshad Begum was born 1918 Bhatti Gate near Lahore,very near to Allama Iqbal's residence.She passed away on 18th April 2001.

@orientlover1 Way back in 1969 or '70 I got invited to a dinner in Karachi. I was in my 20s and the host was Yusaf Bhai Mian, the senior partner of a well known accountancy firm. I was struck by the beauty, the charm and the resonant voice of the hostess. The momory of that brief encounter is still fresh even after40 years. She looked familiar but I could not place her at that time. Only later did I come to know that she was Khursheed, the hear throb of millions in India and Pakistan.

Khurshid's eye movements and smile have surprising similarity with Meena Kumari's though both were not related. It appears that Meena Kumari tried to copy Khurshid acting style during her early career and possibly took her as a role model. Meena Kumari's elder sister was also called Khurshid and she played bit parts in various movies but no more and she remained unknown as actress. Similarly, Meena's other sister Madhuri also acted in movies ( real name Mahlaka) was married to actor Mehmood.

@SPChitale This actress is Khurshid. Meena Kumari's elder sister was also called Khurshid but she played only bit parts in movies and to distinguish between the two Meena's sister was called Khurshid junior. Actress in this movie migrated to Pakistan in early 1950's married there with a businessman and lived a prosperous life till her death. Meena Kumari's sister Khurshid was married to a person called Altaf. Her present whereabouts are not known. Meena's other sister was called Madhuri.
