I stayed with my uncle and my father in 1979 for the weekend. We drank from a stream. It was so clean and peaceful.

In approximately 1978 the Southern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts owned a camp right at the base of Chimney Mountain. It had been sold and was not owned by SNJC at that time. We were possibly the last group of Scouts (Explorers) to stay there.
Thais was my first and last endeavor at "mountain climbing". I remember feeling let down a bit as I did not think the rock looked much like a chimney to me.
I have thought it would be cool to stay there again if it is open for public lodging.

Cool video! Looks like you had fun! If you go back I suggest once you get up top you travel to the east side. That is the true peak of the mountain and offers some exceptional views. Also the valley below the chimney is great lots of little easily explorable ice caves!

you can actually do two ice caves and alot of other little caves with no ropes. and you can do some of Eagle cave with no ropes, but you will need ropes eventually

Well have fun! We were lacking in ropes as well, so couldn't do much. Enjoy the caves!
Sweet! Have you ever explored the caves?
