I've changed some code in FGFSCopilot. Before, when landing, it would reduce the AT setting to 7/8ths of the approach speed setting during the flare. Despite the AP having a decent target VS setting, it would be too slow to compensate with the fast reduction in speed, and drop the plane kinda like a rock. Not quite, but close.
Now, FGFSCopilot simply switches off the AT, leaving the throttles at the setting that maintained approach speed while on the GS. When the target VS is changed for the flare, the speed decreases only from the change in pitch. The speed decreases slowly, and the AP compensates very well. The touchdown is a little late, but very smooth.
I need to test this tweak with some other planes before I release it. Be sure to check the FG wiki at http://wiki.flightgear.org/FGFSCopilot for the latest version, which will include some other tweaks as well. This will take a while. Maybe a couple days or so.
Great ;)
