Greetings! Some of you who follow me may know that we have had a trying week. We had already planned on going to Busch Gardens this past Friday and Saturday and as the week wore on, I thought we should cancel. Rick insisted that we should not and that we should not let our problems and troubles win out over having special family fun time together. So we went.

This will be the third year we have enjoyed the Illuminights Rhine River Fireworks Cruise at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The first time we ever went to Busch Gardens it was the first real family vacation we ever took due to circumstances and money. The first time was extra magical. The subsequent years have not disappointed. This year they didn't have the soundtrack available on the lake, so it was a little sad, but no less entertaining. I still contend that these are some of the best fireworks we have ever seen.

I have underscored this video with the actual Tour De Force Fireworks soundtrack so that you can have a bit of the whole experience. I know that watching it on a video is not like being there, but it will give you an idea of how special we think this is.

Imagine being out on a boat in the middle of a dark, quiet lake surrounded by pine forest. Then imagine the sight of fireworks erupting over the lake and the musical score filling the lake basin and leaving the slightest echo. The smell of the woods, the slight breeze, the sound of the trees. You might even see a deer or two when the boat captain shines the light out onto the shore. It is nothing less than an incredible experience. Add to that the sight of the fireworks as they fall from the sky and their reflection upon the glassy surface of the water. There is nothing like it. At the end of the show, brief silence, brings you back to reality and a slow, troll around the lake while they wait for the "all safe" from the fireworks crew who sets them off from the train trestle which the boats have to pass under. Then it is back to the shrieks and screams of roller coaster riders and the lights and happy sounds of my happy place. Can you smell the popcorn? How about Tracker's Smokehouse? I think I need a funnel cake before we leave.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip to Busch Gardens with us. Next time I will take you during the day so you can see why I love it so much. It really is my favorite place to escape and re-energize with my Husband and Molly and Micah. We form stronger bonds as a family when we do things like this together.

Thanks for coming along with me.
