This is one of our male Lady Gouldians that is singing. He is molting during the video which means he's getting new feathers!

  • Just bought a pair of redheads/purple breast tday.Wish me luck:)

  • Enjoy! These are most likely the most beautiful of all the finches. All though the fledglings take 9 months to colour up, breeding them becomes even more rewarding given the time envolvded.

  • i have seen all your bird videos n wow you sure have a nice collection of them:-3 i always wanted a Gouldian finch but when i read that they are endangered in their natural habitat it kind of made me sad and not want to buy them.. unless its from a breeder so i can breed them my self as well

  • The gouldians are nice birds to have in your home. The males are absolutely stunning. They're not to hard to breed but they do take a year to color up. That's one of the reasons breeders charge more. Interesting song.

  • I don't know of any wild Goulds being sold in pet shops in Canada. I would bet their all from domestic breeders. Given the colour up time is so slow, who would wait for fledglings or otherwise catch adult birds with hand nets. So, I'm left to guess all are domestic birds being sold.

  • They're not the easiest to keep. Delicate birds.

  • I've had lots of them live for years but breeding is has been harder for us. It takes Gould's nine months to get their mature feathers. So they cost more in pet shops.

  • i have black headed gouldian, lovely birds, have two pairs, and already have 8 young ones, .good video

  • I used to have one orange head male and Black head femaleI had them nine and ten years-- until they died of old age- Diego the male courted Cristina my female but I never could get them to mate, Male song was so soothing could listen to him and fall asleep... I love them!

  • Seems the molting lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. But then their colors are so bright.

Nice birds to have in our home.

If I could only have one, it would be a Gouldian!

  • how long is the molt stage?
