http://searchengineland.com/video-ins... is the story with this video. At the TED 2011 conference in Long Beach, Google gave rare demos of its auto-driving car. This is from outside the car. The car is making extreme turns unlike it would on regular roads because it is on a closed-course and it demonstrating its capabilities.

What's with all the Prius hate? The reason the folks at Google chose Priuses is obvious. They're affordable and they represent, I dunno, MODERN technology?

Hacking is indeed a concern on the Internet. But if someone hacks an online shopping site, it probably wont result in me being dead. When it comes to vehicles there should always be a human in control. I don't have a problem with auto pilot systems, as long as there is a pilot there in case something goes wrong.

I am sure google with incorporate security into the cars. But hackers will always find a way around it. If someone can hack into the pentagon, the google car is hackable.

By that logic, airplanes that rely on autopilot and the very concept of online shopping are pretty stupid too. Actually, forget online shopping; any online medium that involves sensitive information which hackers can "play with."

Come on, this is Google. They employ the most talented "hackers" in the world. I would trust them to protect a software as important as this.

They're there incase something goes wrong. They're not driving it.

If you watch the video recorded from the inside, you'll see that at the very end of the course the guy in the driver's seat took control of the wheel, which disabled automatic driving. During the whole course the car drove itself.
