The Climbers play In A Circle live on the main stage at the Melting Vinyl & Willkommen Foxtrot festival at Stanmer House, Brighton on 12 September 2010.
The Climbers are the latest addition to the Willkommen Collective stable, at least in terms of material released; the album itself having been produced over an extended period of time.
At the core of the band are principal songwriter, Tim West, and Leisure Society's Christian Hardy and Nick Hemming. Also making contributions to the album are many of the stalwarts of the Willkommen Collective, including Jacob Richardson and Cathy Cardin of Sons of Noel and Adrian, Helen Whitaker, Darren Bonehill and the ubiquitous Will Calderbank and Mike Siddell on cello and violin respectively.
Don't let the involvement of the always excellent Hardy and Hemming give you the idea that this is merely some kind of Leisure Society side project. Tim West is very much the captain of The Good Ship and what you have here is one of best, and most varied, collections of songs released by Willkommen so far.
Performed live, this particular song, In A Circle, goes very classic 70s Pink Floyd at around 1:52 - with guitarist Nick Hemming and keyboard player Christian Hardy producing a guitar/keys playoff of which David Gilmour and Richard Wright might have been rightly proud!
The Good Ship comes highly recommended and is available to buy right now on CD and download.
The Melting Vinyl & Willkommen Foxtrot festival took place in the magnificent house and gardens at Stanmer, just outside Brighton, and consisted of 15 acts across three stages. Featuring a headline performance by the fabulous Laura Marling, the line-up also included Willkommen favourites, Sons of Noel and Adrian, Shoreline, Laish, Curly Hair, Kristin McClement and Rowan Coupland.
Great song!
