Turning and baling hay in Kildare, Ireland, July 2011. Turning and rowing up with a PZ 300 haybob on a John Deere 6400. A neighbour made a few round bales for us with a JD 575 and Renault tractor and we also made about 600 small square bales with a Claas Markant 50 driven by an International 784.

This was the first time in about 10 years that we had used the Claas and after a few shots of grease she was off flying again. Square baling with a 784 is definitely a sight from yesteryear around here as nearly all hay is round baled now.

  • jesus that yoke on the loader for lifting those bales is handy, my childhood could have been so different :)

  • @vanderbadger Yep its a great yoke alright. Very simple too, just a bit of channel iron and a single acting ram and thats about it!

  • Love the video - would do anything to turn a field of hay..... that would be a great way to spend a fine day!

  • @PhluterGoode Yeah its great being out on a fine day like that. Hoping to make another bit this week if the weather stays fine!

  • tis looking wet through the window there, was it pissing ?

  • @MrShanbla No didn't get any rain on it. Window was probably just a bit dirty

  • gud video. was turning hay for the neighbour this year in the mornings and he was using a 6610 i put the haybob on 1000 pto and only reved it to about 10 and it saves on disel but still goes just as fast as 540 reved up

  • thats how to load hay !!!

  • Oh and the time of making small squares isnt gone yet. I work with a big farmer/contractor and he still makes several thousand small squres of hay and about the same of straw, ontop of big bale straw and thousands of rounds. Leads to a hell of alot of tractor, loader and manpower working together

  • Nice, I'd say the pit was tasty that evening! Looks like good Hauy!!
