USS Ticonderoga CVA-14 dropped anchor in the bay of Hong Kong in 1965-66 Vietnam cruise along with other Ships and Vessels. We took a launch into the docks and saw several Junks (boats, homes for Hong Kong people). The highlight of Liberty was the Floating Restaurant which is still around, the custom made tailored suits and the Bars in Kowloon (off limits). The submarine at the dock is the USS Bream AGSS-243
I remember well on e morning getting into Hong Kong guidede only by Sonar because the fog was so thick that you can cut it with a knife.Love this video

Thanks for the video. My husband was assigned temporary active to the Ticonderoga at the time this was taken - 1966. He was assigned out of San Miguel, Philippines. Hong Kong harbor was a beautiful place and he keeps it in his memory. He told me years ago about the Aberdeen and the King Kong floating restaurants.

Thanks for the videos. My Father was on the Ticonderoga in the MM division from '68-'72. I remember him telling of going to Hong Kong once, where he bought my Mother a set of China dishes. I'll have to show him the video to see if he remembers any of this.
