Nope, in the context of Chinese fake socialism it is. So why is Marxism defined by actions of false Marxists but not democracy?

The vast majority of Marxists do not hold that China or North Korea are Marxist, therefor they are not.

@cary123 Words mean what they are used for. If they deliberately diverge from the meanings their originators claim, then hypocrisy is also included as part of their meaning.

Indeed - in the context of Marxism, the words "Democratic" and "People's" do imply oppression and despotic rule. So you aren't too far off-base. George Orwell called this phenomena "Newspeak".

@DrCruel What about the so called "Democratic" government of China and there so called "Communist" Party? All officials there claim to be "Democratic" and that China is a "Democratic" state. I guess that means a despotic one party state.

Ideas aren't named by the actions self-proclaimed leaders, they are rather defined by there original creators(Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels), and the opinions of its followers, not a elite of a party claiming to Marxist.

@cary123 Apparently he used the word "nigger" in a similar context. Of course, to my limited understanding of the Great Bearded One, it sounds very much like the sort of thing one would hear from other racists - but The Beloved Leader can do no wrong, even if the evidence is in black and white, so there must be some other explanation.

And yes. If democrats start saying that North Korea, China, Vietnam etc are "democracies", then the word democracy will come to mean a despotic one-party state.

@DrCruel You know states like North Korea, China, Vietnam, etc. call themselfs Democracy's. They say there a Democracy, and other so called "Democracy's" consider them one, so I guess Democracy means a monarchic/oligarchic/militaris­tic one party republic. Not what they say Democracy is.

Marx used the word "Jew" as a casual curse like shit or fuck, he was biologically a Jew himself.
