This is a 25kg 1Degree Of Freedom MAGLEV suspension experimental rig that is designed and constructed for the optimised sensor configurations for control and sensor fault tolerance PhD project. The design consists of the MATLAB XPC target where the controllers are loaded and the control signals go through the NI DAQ card NE6070E to the Power amplifier. There is a power supply for the electromagnets and auxiliary power for the electronic circuits. The control of the air gap is done by controlling the flux density through the exitation current fed to the coils from the power amplifier (PWM 20kHz). From the current set up a classical control strategy via inner loop is implemented and tuned via genetic algorithms using the air gap and flux density measurements. Location: Control Systems Group, Loughborough University, UK.

  • Where is the flux capacitor?

  • @eggbertsmith the flux density is measured using two search coils one on each pole face on the electromagnets. details about the desing is found in my thesis. if you need more clarifications let me know

  • @BAMFWrangler Yep, but it was a good comeback... :)

  • I'm pretty sure that flux capacitor comment was just a joke lol. Referencing the movie back to the future fyi. pretty cool stuff though
