the original series are from Lars von Trier and are in Danish. The series is called the Kindom and are one of the most intriguing series I've ever seen. Von Trier made 2 series and couln't finish the 3rd because some actors had died, among which the old lady and the neurosurgeon. The abandoned scripts were sent to the producers of Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital, but it is unclear whether they used the scripts or not.

oh yes. the danish is WAY better

@Erinwolfrus DO IT! Hehe, I'm Danish, and I must admit that this version (and I've only seen this video, so I could very well be wrong), seems a little tame compared to Lars von Trier's version.

I really like this series. It makes me want to look up the Danish series it is based off of- does anyone know if they have the Danish series subbed or even fan subbed?

@KellytheBohemian To be honest, we "Stupid Americans" dont get many opportunities to learn other languages besides English. At my high school the only foreign language class is Spanish. I think that the rest of the world becomes so intolerant of us sometimes for no reason, like we're all perched on some kind of high chair looking down on everyone else. Please be less ignorant and more considerate next time you make a generalized statement about my people.

I am only 11 and when i was like 4 this was the show my whole family got together to watch every week

Alright, so I can see you being peeved at King taking a Danish story. But as for the subtitles, it was written as a book before it was made into a movie and I beg you not to generalize. I know we're all supposed to be 'stupid Americans,' but many of us are quite intelligent and perfectly capable of reading subtitles and watching 'low-tech' films. I do it quite often, amazingly enough.

@YawpingStance the story itself is danish. it's a 'remake' or what you call it. and the original is much more brutal, 'weird' and unpleasant. it's been 'interpreted' because americans apparently can't read subtitles, or watch something that isn't 'high-tech' or were the main caracters don't speak english.

Begging your pardon, but I'm a bit confused on what you mean about 'Americanization of everything not made in the us of a.' Stephen King is an American horror writer; Kingdom Hospital is therefore an American horror story.
-
The language wasn't an issue. I'd just seen King's version first and wanted to check out the original.
It was the quirkyness of remake and again the brilliant casting that makes me love it so much. I do agree that americanization of everything is getting pretty irritating.

I understand why you adore King. He's made some really great stuff, but it's a shame you didn't watched Riget to the end. It really is a masterpiece, but I guess the langauge is a little hard to overcome. I myself is Danish so.. but yeah, I just think, like many other and probably everyone in Denmark, that a 'remake' is just degrading.

I haven't seen the full series to be honest. It didn't hold my attention as well as this version. I just adore King and his take on it.
Someone should post the whole series. I'm trying to find the DVD box set but I can't -_-'

It is possible to post the series, but with a limit of ten minutes per video, that would be a LOT of videos (about 61). I don't know if anyone would watch that many videos.

I love the intro song

So do I. I also find it interesting that the song is on the 4400 sountrack, which is a show that is (I've been told) very like Heroes, which itself shares an actor with Kingdom Hospital. Interesting show ties there. :-)
