Well, according to IMDb, it was performed by "The Five Blobs". Not a real band, just came together with that name for this song, which was a moderate success on its own.

In a jar? Don't think so.

When the CO2 fire extinguishers freeze THE
BLOB,they ship it off to the Antarctic...where
it'll never thaw out. There was no "cliffhanger" as I remember.

It just said "The End" (?)

It may have been after credits... But I have the vido and it shows the dude holdin a bit of the blob in a jar.

That was the ending of the Blob in 1988. The minister was deluded that God would tell him when to commit murder.
In the original in 1958, they dropped it into the Arctic. Then it returned in 1972, when a bulldozer picked it up while installing the Alaska pipeline. That second one left much to be desired.
