check the tarantula's health and be sure to check if it doesnt have a bald spot on its abdomen. ask the seller/breeder if you can handle the tarantula to check its temperment. and most importantly, DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS.
chilean roses like any other tarantula, has different personalities. you should look at jon3800's psycho rosea. lol
if its what you really want then go for it. im just warning you about their moods, ive seen roseas that are really sweet and some are just satan with 8 legs.
by the way, do you know where to get one? do not order online specially if you dont know anybody who has ordered from that online person/site. better go to the breeder/seller's place and check the tarantula for yourself.
thats what i want, a slow growing T. i don't like fast Ts as im afraid of spiders and that the reason why. you never know where they're gonna go next. so yeah, im getting a T to overcome my fear aswel as wanting one as a pet. i've heard that chilean rose are really calm and great for a beginner species :)
scratch the fireleg, i meant mexican red knee. sorry.
i also suggest getting either a spiderling or a juvenile sized tarantula. the younger it is, the more time you get to know its personality.
here are the scientific names:
brachypelma albopilosum
eupalaestrus campestratus
aphonopelma hentzi
brachypelma emilia
brachypelma smithi
you can also ask other keepers what they recommend. i strongly suggest asking tarantulaguy1976 (breeder) and jon3800 (collector), they are both respected keepers.
may i suggest getting another breed? grammmostola roseas are a somewhat moody tarantula. they are docile and calm at times and sometimes they just turn evil. plus roses grow really slow. id recommend a grammostola pulchripes, they are a lot more docile and calm and they dont get agitated easily, plus they grow a lot bigger and faster than roseas. you may also want to consider the following:

good luck!
