Review of Ari OS 3.0, a Linux Distro based on Ubuntu 11.04 with lots of software, multimedia codecs, Java, and Flash pre-installed. Its an ideal distro for a new / intermediate user who wants a system ready to use that comes with some tools to customise the system and make it feel more unique.
It comes with the Gnome Desktop with Unity styled Avant Docking bars on the edge of the screen.

  • Is there a 64bit version available? On the website I can only find one iso file (AriOS-3.0-INTL.iso)

  • @bobbygeisler No there isn't a 64 bit version. You could install 64bit kernel via Synaptic. Although its not something I've tried in theory it should work

  • LOL at your first open tab

  • @strelok1911 hehe if only it ever got me anywhere

  • is it just me or is the sound glitching?

  • @miasmablk Only for the first couple of mins, I had some issues with the OGV file and had to use a crude method to get it working

  • @miasmablk He was fighting Mr. Smith

  • I don't get it why you burst out laughing when you seen the starting windows theme on the boot manager.. That isn't some sort of a joke, it's for dual boots.

  • Where the cpu hit 100% when you weren't doing anything.. this is a Ubuntu bug or issue which usually happens when the software center is open although there are a couple of other Ubuntu bugs which cause it.

  • How can you review all these linux distros and decide which is the best when you haven't even tried Fedora?? Fedora is fantastic, especially with gnome shell.. Please install Fedora 16 beta and review it.. Bare in mind that you will need to install flash the hard way via terminal and fix the fonts before it it fully setup as Fedora only includes stuff that is 100% open source so the fonts are like those of old ubuntu.
