There is no download link available for the MP3 or WAV. But you can produce them yourself by cutting the soundtrack using the following informations:

TUTORIAL - HOW TO RECOVER "THE DINNER" FROM "GTA 2"

You need: Adobe Audition 3 or similar

"The Dinner" is a very nice song you hear in the game "Grand Theft Auto 2" in the radio channels "Li-Fo FM" and "Lithium FM". I want to show you, how you extract the songs with PERFECT cuts.

I could remove the voices as well as combine the two sound parts, so that the whole song arose. The sample marks except the mark in step E were detected in the studio and are very exactly calculated.

Unfortunately, I couldn't remove the "record"-sounds at the beginning of the song.

Please ask me if you have questions or improvement suggestions.

Now here is what I have done:

Firstly, open the files "4.mp3" and "7.mp3" from the directory "GTAudio".

STEP A

4.mp3: Copy sample 9,768,934 - 9,996,130
7.mp3: Replace sample 3,860,750 - 4,105,539

STEP B

7.mp3: Delete sample 0 - 3,658,384

STEP C

4.mp3: Copy sample 10,665,295 - 11,220,596
7.mp3*: Replace sample 1,098,727 - 12,217,015 (END)

STEP D

7.mp3*: Copy sample 1,532,592 - 1,654,028 (END)
7.mp3*: Insert 4 times after the last sample

STEP E

7.mp3*: Select sample 1,835,595 - 2,139,772 (END) and fade out to zero. Note: You can decide how long you want to fade out (I personally think after all the end is too long in my version).

Now save the modified "7.mp3" as "The Dinner.wav" in the format "Windows PCM" (or MP3 if you want to risk quality loss).

* = Modified file, the sample-marks does not match to the original file, so you MUST do the other steps first because of the inserts and/or deletions.

And something new I just found out: At http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Radio_Stations_in_GTA_2 I read that this song "The Diner" is from "Tammy Boness & The Swingin Mammaries", but I don't know if it is a real band. The so-called "official" soundtrack is probably http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4l7P5wBg58 . But the end is cut of. That's why my studio cut is better, even if it is 100% exact cutted, so there are no disadvantages.

How did you get a "Perfect Cut" into Adobe Audition?

The 100% perfect cut is possible because both sound fragments have exact the same volume and structure. So I zoomed to the maximum and connected the peaks, so that I could append exactly the samples which are neighbours - so I could cut perfect. You can read my tutorial to see what I have exactly done.

Love this tune. Glad someone pieced it together so I didn't have to. I've been browsing around through old files on my hardrive and was listening to all the radio stations from GTA 2. They actually have some pretty funny commentary in there. Shame that whenever I heard the radio on the PS1 version, it seemed it was always just annoying sound effects from the Lithium station; I never even knew all this great stuff was in the game. The crummy radio browsing feature didn't help matters either.
