The President had a chance to meet a few of the folks who took to the web to make the pay roll tax cut happen. Take a moment to hear what they had to say.
It began when we asked everyone to show how that missing $40 would affect them and their families. In a matter of hours thousands of vivid, powerful stories from Americans of all ages, all backgrounds, from every corner across the country were pouring in. For some, $40 means dinner out with a child who's home for Christmas, for others a tank of gas or a charitable donation. In just two days, tens of thousands of Americans were making their voice heard.
@salihe66 Please, un-glue your face from the TV. PMSNBC is bad for your health.

@salihe66 Keep that in mind in the upcoming elections. Any and all republicans that get elected *will* spend their entire term trying to repeal everything Obama has done for the majority of the country. They'll try and weaken or do away with environmental standards that corporations have to abide by. They'll raise taxes on the middle and lower classes through the roof while simultaneously slashing them for rich people and corporations. Republicans *do* *not* *care* about most Americans.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the only ones who wanted to repeal the payroll tax cut was the republicans. And they wanted to do that so they could then lower mega-corporations and millionaire's tax rate. To people in the republican party and the people they work for, $40 is chump change they give a valet to drive their car to the door. Not only do they not care about the middle and lower classes, but they are consistently working to make life as hard for them as they possibly can.

Almost 2k a year... What will $40 a paycheck do? If you take almost 2k a year away from people who are already struggling so hard to make ends meet... Well, it reminds one of the French Revolution, to be honest. Food costs rising, budgets shrinking... how much can you afford to lose before you are forced to say, "Stop!" 2k a year from families struggling to get by on 10/20k a year is a HUGE cut. Don't make them choose between shoes, food or gas. If it can be stopped, STOP.
