The $4.3 Million Dollar Photograph. 2480_44 Gursky.
It seems that Gursky photographed quite a common landscape. It is a symmetrical composition of horizontal lines in two colors, in which appear the river Rheine banks. Furthermore, he digitally from the photo erased people walking, bicyclists and buildings. He offered the photo entitled "Rheine II" for sale at the auction house "Christie's" in New York. The photograph was sold for 4.3 million dollars and so "Rheine II" has become the most expensive photography ever sold.
The buyer's name was not published. Auction house officials say that the photo expresses deep and dramatic thought of human existence, but as well the ratio of man to nature in the XXI century.
