"Dear Friends and Fans of Mario Lanza, I don't want to create with these video (pictures) horror effects, or be disrespectful, no, quite the contrary.
But I want to remind you, that life is not just fun.
No matter whether you are "rich or poor", "black or white", "ugly or beautiful".
If our Clock... of anyone of these holds in his hands... will be set to stop ...
no one asks for your bank account - no...!!!
he called only one...your /our names.
Some will be buried with a lot of Glamour. Others will be buried with a hand full of dirt. There are many tears at the coffin of one, the next is lonely and alone.
But all this isn't important ... what gives me the tears on my grave? If we create a hell at lifetime? I give back your tears, I give them back all.
But we must spend each other a smile or a good word, honor and respect as long as our bodies... are still warm."
Your Jay
This is the raw original- recording, what has taken Mario alone in Rome (like all parts of "The Student Prince 1959).

Love it, love it. Wonderful response. Lanza has his detractors. I'm certainly no officionado (SP) on tenors but I know what I like to hear. Lanza's voice is one in a lifetime, never to be reproduced, repeated or copied. Thank you.

ok... let me say this. i've sung at lincoln center, carnegie hall, russia, recorded with sony in london, sung all over the usa and europe and on pbs...
and to anybody who doesn't realize the immense talent this man had you know not what you're talking about. the sound is animalistic. his diction is remarkable, he e vowel is amazing and it's open and immensely powerful. there's a difference between size and power and he had unbelieveable power. he would have made any opera house ring.

there's quite a difference in the 2 recordings ML made of this... the earlier one is much brighter and you could tell he was in fine health.. on this recording it's quite evident he was struggling with some kind of health issue... his tone is darker, his high notes aren't as powerful and you can hear he's just not a happy man, at least at the time of this recording...

To dear Brighteyes- Not only is such a voice as was given to Mario Lanza an anointed gift, he continues to anoint us with it, leaving us imbued with a sense of magnificence. Such talent expressed elevates our souls, and is our taste of immortality.

@ Brighteyes~ "to my knowledge" is poor evidence that you have concerning the state of Mario's heart, salvation and his faith; especially during the time and circumstances surrounding his death. BY you saying that he is NOT one of the anointed, is a declaration that you are; and if so, why do you judge what only God in this case alone knows. When Mario sings of angels and God, he touches heaven and one can feel/perceive his faith and what and to Whom his last cry/prayer most likely entailed.:)
