  • She wasn't like this before the lobotomy. It's the procedure that left her incapacitated.

  • And...Crappy Mass accents, even if they were Havad edumicated. ;)

  • So Kennedy Sr. was not as Irish as they want to accept him. He was a typical American Business man. If he were close to his Irish roots he would avoid such phrases as, "Sitting on my fanny". In Irish/English, "Sitting on my Vagina". LOL

  • @lulugal17 He wanted to rush and have the Lobotomy performed on Rosemary and he wanted to keep it from Rose. Rose was always so much smarter than Joe was, she was no fool nor blind to the oblivious.

  • @mediblue9 If anyone was embarrassed by her it was Joe, definitely not Rose. Rose adored all of her children and never wanted that for Rosemary and honestly yet in my own opinion, I do not believe Rose ever forgot what Joe did to her daughter nor did she forgive him.

  • What ever happened to the kid who played young Teddy? Heard he wollops a softball!!!

  • I've read in some places that Joe Sr was very afraid that somebody would take advantage of Rosemary, as she was beginning to wander. She had the mind of an 8 yr old, but her feelings were normal for a girl her age. Given their devout beliefs, birth control was not an option. Joe thought he was protecting her virtue, as a lobotomy would control those feelings. It would also be a huge scandal if she were to become pregnant. Lobotomies in those days were seen as a cure for many things. Sad.

  • joe was very driven, but i dont think he was a tyrant.

  • @lulugal17 I don't understand why he is sometimes portrayed as a tyran toward his children. I'm not an american but watching this mini serie he seemed to be for me a careful father who wanted the best for his children. I don't know which parents do not look for the success of their offspring. I wished to have such a father

  • The lobotomy of rosemary is a very tragic and interesting fact about the Kennedy's that should not be as obscure as it is. Instead of exploring her mental state, they threw her aside. She might have been absolutely brilliant in some aspects and could have given us real insight into the mind, but since she couldn't do the basics, they ignorantly assumed she was worthless.

It makes me very sad to even think about it.
