@jjpeach Of course. Well said. Each generation of players has had a previous one to watch and learn and grow from. Cousy and Baylor, Russell too probably really didn't. They were the real originators.

23javern: We agree on Baylor (godfather of modern forwards). I still hold to Cousy (guards) and Russell (3 yrs. bef. Wilt) as the center. I'm a huge Pete Maravich fan. He was a great combo guard, much like his predecessors West and Robertson. Just saying Cousy the was 1st great point guard. Though I would say Pistol, Oscar and Jerry later surpassed him as overall players. But as a pure passer, distributor I'm not sure. I still feel in that way only perhaps Stockton is his equal.

@Amick44 hes not the originator. :) baylor is for the forwards, wilt is for the centers. :) pete maravich was the originator of the point guards today. he cant go left, weak jumper, average speed, turnover prone. hes like a young kid being flashy all the time and ending up turning the ball over. no disrespect, just sayin.

Hey torr Cousy was the best of his time. The true original point guard who defined the position. Same for Russell (centers), Baylor (small forward) and Pettit (power forward). Cousy just didn't like Oscar's style of play. Walk it up, dribble out much of the clock, before shooting or passing. Oscar certainly surpassed him overall, but sometimes styles and ideas don't mesh.

@Amick44 LMAO. 375 shooting %, weak def, cant go left and they didnt track turnovers in his day. I cant stand him because he was jealous of the Big O.

@23javern He was the originator, the original great point guard. The father of modern guards. Just as Russell was for centers, Baylor for forwards.

@birthtimez he dosent need his left..he perfected his right

Holy shit. This is the first Bob Cousy highlight I've ever seen, and this guy could play. He was doing moves miles ahead of his time. You can tell Magic studied this guy.
-
@fredmalamud just saying he couldnt really dribble with his left hand that well

37 percent field goal shooter. he isn't the best they Boston Celtics in the 50's had a complete team. Calm down magic is the greatest everyone here knows it.

And yet he was more than a bit awkward dribbling with his left hand...
