Stellar band drawing its roots between Europe and Canada, Basquiat's Black Kingdom deals with elated music for dark souls, using themes one would believe extracted from an old forgotten film noir.
Quoting the improbable collision between shiny François de Roubaix's soundtracks and gigantic
Neurosis' compositions, this hairy and smoky crew proposes a journey into the great psychedelics
seventies using a dark, but strangely contemporary code. Some kind of sheet steel crash from
where improbable post-modern lullabies would emerge.
Like this mixture in the french musical landscape, the itinerary of this supersonic band may appear
improper. Born from the gathering of Arman Méliès, Darko Fitzgerald, and other musicians spending
their time between Paris, Berlin and Montréal, this six-headed and four-guitared musical hydra
revisits three decades of complex-less music, giving birth to a loud, heavy, psychedelic, abrasive and
threatening post-rock.
In the end, a seminal and obsessive music where one would recognize Ennio Morricone and Earth,
Tangerine Dream and Black Sabbath, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Labraford.
A Black Kingdom scattered with hallucinated fireflies.
