There is a new breed of proud progressives springing up. People like Markos, Grayson, Weiner, and Franken.
These guys are intelligent, articulate, and are willing to step forward and speak the truth.
They will not back down from conservatives like Tancredo, who like to bully opponents, but wet their pants when someone stands up to them.
I hope others are watching and learning.

Wasnt health insurance and health care in general(hospitals,etc) a non for profit industry before reagan came in?I remember that vaguely.

I know nixon wanted to change health care to a for profit system.

Blaming profits / health insurance companies for this problem is misguided.

I'm confused. Tom Tancredo *did* get a "1-Y" deferment after telling the doctor who did his physical that he had been treated for depression. Why is he so sensitive about it now? Why should the other guy apologize for saying that? Tancredo got bitchslapped. He'd have been smarter to just pretend the comment hadn't been made.  Walking away and leaving the other guy with the microphone is just stupid.

Thats a good point Pony. I would say have the conversation about the quality of government run healthcare, rather than storming off like a big puss...However i was trying to respond to what i see as a main theme in peoples reaction where they are so critical of draft dodgers calling them chicken hawks and cowards. In my opinion there is no honor in being sent by your government to kill other poor people to benefit the military industrial complex.

My brother did serve in war. When he became disabled a few years ago he did seek help from the VA. Thank Heavens for the VA. They were able to diagnose and treat him. Though he is now disabled, at least he receives the proper medical care/treatment/services he so needs right now.
