The decimation of native populations by European invaders is a tragedy that played out in too much of the world. It is a great tragedy that these humans are primarily marginalized in the lands that were once theirs.
The American experience has been one marked by bloodshed and cruelty towards many great people. It is a part of our history that is too often neglected and never given just due. Instead we learn of Manifest Destiny.
For those who forget history are prone to repeat its mistakes

Ambush, hit and run, attack silently, take your enemies weapons and tools of war off the battlefield, melt back into the night. The Apache were the first special forces. When Airborne paratroopers jump out of the aircraft, what name do they yell...GERONIMO! Out of respect. The U.S. army to this day follow what they learned in the Apache War.

I've read several accounts of the running prowess of the Apache warrior. They say that the Apache warrior could run 50 to 75 miles a day . They could cover more distance on foot than the cavalry could on horseback.

Just the fact that US Spec. Ops. teams still use Apache style edged weapon, hand-to-hand and other fighting techniques is a testament to what kind of warriors the Apaches are.

Their favorite was the bow and arrow and lance,,,, but they used guns a lot, the problem was getting ammo. They were crack shots! Geronimo could out shoot marksmen into his 80's even as a prisoner at fort sill.
