  • This is a wonderful demonstration! Excellent narration as well.

    Diffidently subscribed.

  • thanks - I would never have the patience to construct an entire clock, but I love the varieties of escapements. The main purpose of clock escapements is to slow down the release of energy from a descending weight or a compressed spring. You could probably think up a mechanism of your own if you wanted.

  • Very nice example. Does the speed of the mechanism change as the weight falls further from the drum, or is it completely dependent on the verge?

  • Wow! I'll tell you Dad, that is a great way to illustrate your projects...far better than just a photo or diagram...You may try filming it against a slid white background, so you can see the parts better, but excellent work!
