@lyris1 The National Anthem used to be played out at the end of all cinema showings, and also just before closedown on the BBC as well.
Used to be standard practice - I seem to remember it being common during the 70s.

Yes they did. Ever watched the movie "The Smallest Show on Earth?"

@airscrew1 Got the Rank Screen Advertising one?
-
HAhahha i remember that Hienekin ad,lol

Wow, the last one is outright propaganda! Was this common or did Rank Screen Advertising have a very close relationship with the royals?
-
@GateStudios Did they seriously play "God Save thy King" at the end of each film in certain cinemas?
-
Can you copy these for me to a DVD?

0:42 Homage to the classic VW ad ("Best selling car in Japan").

What year did that Harry Enfield Heiniken ad first show? I'm guessing circa 1987, judging by the Beastie Boys influence.
On a sidenote, an ad like that would probably never get off the ground today, because Heiniken would have to pay Volkswagon to use their logo.

@megaben99 That's actually not an American song, although "God Save The King (or Queen)" provided the melody for "My Country Tis of Thee". It's just that the lyrics for both are different. "God Save the King (or Queen)" is officially the United Kingdom's National Anthem, just as "The Star Spangled Banner" is the U.S. National Anthem.

The queen trailer is from 1952! The Queen has lived for 57 years now. Little known fact: usually when "God Save Thy King (or Queen) was played at the end of each feature presentation, moviegoers would quickly leave the theater. How unBritishlike of them!
