Mireille Mathieu and Danny Kaye

This is from the french show "grand Echiquier" (1987).
It begins with a shot of a duet with Dean Martin ; then a funny duet with Danny Kaye in the States in 1966.
Mireille had to sing very seriously the french lyrics ( it is a love song) as if she didn't understand the funny translation made by Danny. But, she said in her autobiography :"I really did not understand one word !" She also told that she drank too much with Danny the day before ( she was so young and not used of that !) : Stark was very angry because she was better during the reherseal !
Then Henri Verneuil ( famous french film writer) comments what he noticed when Mireille was in the backstage and came on the stage for the first song :
"The little girl from Avignon became the great Johan of Arc ( "La demoiselle d'Orléans" and the voice !...She is terrific !...You know, a popular singer, it is when thousands of people, Chinese people, American people, Russian or Japanese people applause and say :"Please, girl, another song, please !"
That is a real popular singer as Mireille !"
