Hudson, a 4-year-old polar bear, and Whirl, a 3-year-old Amur tiger, who reside at Brookfield Zoo, received some holiday treats in a festive way. Keepers decorated 10-foot balsam fir trees donated by Home Depot with some of the animals' favorite foods.
Hudson's tree was adorned with fish, lettuce, peanut butter, apples, and meat. Whirl, who is strictly a carnivore, received sausage links that were donated by Tucker's Select.
Animal Programs staff is constantly thinking of different ways to enrich the lives of the animals in their care. The special treats are part of a zoo-wide program that encourages natural behavior of the animals by physically and mentally stimulating them with various enrichment.
Hudson is so fluffy and cute!!!
I love that Amur acts just like my housecats! Pawing at the tree, chewing on the branches...adorable!
