Acharya Shree Yogeesh clarifies the misconceptions of the many "gods of Hinduism" by stating that God is only one, but there are many deva and devis that are often worshiped through rituals and praise in Hindu Culture. Although these deva and devis are not gods, they are similar to great saints and angels, that many pray to in order for their wishes to be granted.

  • @DeerHaveRights2 that's how I understand it: they are aspects of Ishvara.

  • All words. Where is god? Only in the minds of believers.

  • I have one question. You said Ram is Bhagvan not Dev and Bramha, Vishnu, Shiv are Mahadev. But Ram was a part (swarup) of Vishnu. How you explain this?

  • so who is the creater of these all Davies and dvitas, ???

are these Davies and devitas doing some thing with the permition of God or they ve atuority doing them self,... in other words do these davies and divitas get help from the God or no....?

  • @Curiousquest2 no, but it is possible to chose a path to worship some. black magic goes to shiv, the destroyer and kali. many other things go to a particular god but their are 3 main gods. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv

  • Is it possible to worship all devas and devi in our life.

  • I just look at the Gods and Goddesses as ways for us to personify different qualities of God, even though they are all just different ways of imagining the One. When I want to focus my energry to see the One as a mother Goddess, I imagine God as a mother Goddess. When I go to school, I carry a picture of Sarasvati, to remind myself that God is with me through all of my efforts. I don't believe in any Hindu mythology, yet I am still a Hindu.

  • @noreen54 ...sister why it is necessary to have an image of GOD wen Yajurveda says "na tasya pratima asti

"There is no image of Him."

[Yajurveda 32:3].... Rest GOD knows the best......May GOD guide us

  • Acharya Shree,

Is it necessary to have an object to worship to? Is it a necessary part of religion? I know having an alter is a nice thing to have, but is it necessary to prostrate yourself in front of an image and if so, what does that have to do with spirituality? Noreen Wilkins

  • Just like mother mary or shakti. Those are just symbolic of the feminine energy that lies dormant within everyone. But of course people worship that symbolic picture as idols.Adam and eve must reunite to achieve the liberation.
