It looked like the mom was simply playfully swatting the kid as if to say "Oh relax, he's not *Really* going to do anything to you!" more then hitting the baby.

Muta's masks have gotten really intense in the last few years, haven't they? I can't blame the kid for being scared. But that kid did indeed need more FIGHTING SPIRIT!
