Truely awesome.
The sad thing is we are never going to see the likes of Mississippi Fred again.
Truely Legend.

He's a big inspiration to the harmolodic guitarists, like Vernon Reid.

Guitar takes place of people who would answer singer..blues is vocal, not instrumental (boy that's going to upset someone!). Funny, all the guitar blazing blues since it moved from black roots is really nothing to do with this music's purpose..a community binder. You sing troubles out. Instruments came along to take the place of "chorus", the field gang, the church congregration, who originally echoed singer. Then the "box" became a buddy...even a "gal" for musician.

"This man was the most haunting & rawest slide player that ever lived."
Son House anyone?

Gotta love Fred. If you like Fred, check out so RL Burnside too...

what year was this?

He looks almost as if he's about to cry towards the end. Wouldn't surprise me if he actually was, as most of the older blues musicians suffered real hardship.
He could really make that guitar sing.
