Hi everyone! I was recently inspired to do a cover of perhaps my favorite song of all time, the Smashing Pumpkins' 1979. I hope you enjoy my rendition of it.
I would also like to let you know that my song "Oh Seoul" has been featured on a website and the link to it is here: http://voicecouncil.com/soulofbass-oh-seoul-original/
i hope that you could post a comment there if you havent already on the original video.
and as usual the lyrics to 1979 (so you can sing along):

Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet
Junebug skipping like a stone
With the headlights pointed at the dawn
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all
And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know
Just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
Double cross the vacant and the bored
They're not sure just what we have in store
Morphine city slippin dues down to see
That we don't even care as restless as we are
We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts
And poured cement, lamented and assured
To the lights and towns below
Faster than the speed of sound
Faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope
Justine never knew the rules,
Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls
No apologies ever need be made, I know you better than you fake it
To see that we don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
The street heats the urgency of sound
As you can see there's no one around

  • You always put so much work into every single song.

Just curious... what makes this your favorite song perhaps of all time. You've listened to a lot of music! I'd like to know.

  • @Patriculate2 I do put a good deal of work and effort, quality is important to me. 1979 just spoke to me i guess, the feel of it, it has this postive energy that betrays what seems like melanchollic themes. I think you could say it sounds happy but is actually sad.

  • Great cover of a great song, man! Your voice does sound a lot like Billy Corgan's...

  • Excellent cover, guitar and vocals are great, thank you for the share, Cheri

  • I must admit I've never owned a pumpkins album but I've liked many of their songs. This is one of my favorites. It's a natural fit for you vocally. The whole production of it is great. You've done a great job of it. Liked it as much as the original. : )

  • Very Nice!!! It is also close to being my favorite song as well!!

  • I enjoyed your cover. I love the band and this song too.

  • Awesome! I almost thought you were lip-syncing Billy Corgan.
