@FISHmann100 It was a movie, not a well balanced documentary! They were there to protect the citizens of Northern Ireland from terrorism. No IRA, UDA etc then no Army on the streets.

watch the movie "in the name of the father" it shows what really happened to innocent people during these times.....if i was english or a royalist for that matter i wouldn't try and stand up for what they did during these times they were completely wrong and terrorised the Irish people for many years......for forgiveness an apology is necessary and we didn't get that when the queen visited us a year ago a simple sorry seemed to be too difficult to slip off her vulgar tongue.

In 1689 the irish embraced king james who was at war with britian as james was in ireland and would not come over to britian to settle the dispute prince william of orange went over to ireland to get james who lost to william and in those days thats how country`s did things like we did to germany after ww2
