I think that unless you have a) a domestic dispute or b) you need a defense lawyer whose mission is to persuade a jury to feel sorry for you, a female lawyer should be avoided.

This video was a documentary on Marion and not a commentary on which gender is more capable. I personally have used both for different needs and found it comes down to the person, not the gender. Remarkably, the woman lawyer I used for one situation looked like your grandmother and tore the other side up. I had to chuckle.
