Dr. Douglas Fields, chief of the Nervous System Development & Plasticity Section of the National Institutes of Health, explains the importance and function of glial cells in the brain, whose importance was undiscovered until relatively recently:
Aren't the glia cell's reactions due to their cleansing of waste products from the neurons? Or are glia cells actually affecting the communication (information) among neurons.
@leonelmondragon Fields, the scientist talking in this video published the book "The Other Brain" (which is an excellent book) and has written numerous articles in Scientific American, Science and a recent article in Scientific American Mind.
Very good work. I wonder if there has been any progress since the publication of this video? Maybe it may hold any information leading into epilepsy etiology.
