http://gradschool.marlboro.edu Capstone project description: The purpose of this project is to conduct a feasibility study for Farm Fresh Rhode Island exploring the possibility of a public market in a dedicated, physical space in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Farm Fresh Rhode Islands mission is growing a local food system that values the environment, health and quality of life of RI farmers and eaters. This market would serve customers from the Providence area interested in purchasing fresh food and produce on a regular basis. Specifically, the feasibility study outlines the benefits and costs of creating a public market space in downtown Providence, RI and evaluates the risks and challenges associated with this type of project. Sections of the feasibility study will also quantify the potential revenue generated by a public food market and explore a revenue percentage sharing model which would help Farm Fresh RI, a non-profit organization, grow its outreach and marketing efforts to promote local farms and farmers in the state.
