A sequenced cover of my favorite pillows song, Swanky Street, for the pillows cover contest.

It was sequenced and produced in Reason 4.0, arranged by ear and from memory without any reference score. Getting the sounds and style right was a major challenge, but the results were worth the work -- each of the guitars in this song use enough effects devices by themselves to mix an entire song with!

Being that the actual work of creating the cover was done over the course of a few weeks, the actual video here isn't very interesting to watch, since I'm not actually doing anything in it while my cover is playing. If I had played in any of the instrument parts live, they'd lose a lot of the carefully-sequenced nuances that make them actually sound like something other than a keyboard. Just tab over to another site and listen to this in the background or whatever :)

  • Great job and thanks for filling us in on your cover, I actually listened to it rather than watching.

But really man, people are making fun of you.

That sucks, don't let it bother you, you did a great job. Kudos

  • Eh? A lot of the comments on this video are from friends, they're not making fun of me :P

  • I'm sure they'll make fun of that Mac, however.

  • Much like your posting.

  • Did you write that speech at the beginning? It's sounds like you're reading it off a bit of paper

  • KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, ESSELFORTIUM!! I'm still a fan after all these years, buddy :)

  • the songs have more instrumental pillows

    ?

  • This is awsome, but where are the WORDS. If its becasue you're not a good singer, then you could use another instrument to mimic the voice.

  • <3 essel <3

  • cooooolllll!!!!

  • nice sound!

  • That actually sounded a lot better than I expected. Glad it wasn't midi format. Very good.

  • We love it. We're a fan of writing computer music, this sounds cool!
