George Strait's new song with chords and lyrics so you can learn to play the song. Instead of using the actual chords and capo as George uses, I changed the pitch of the song slightly so that no retuning or capo will be required.

There's really nothing fancy going on here The whole song is pretty straight up, and really simple. It's a standard I - IV - V - iv (G - C - D - Em) progression. If there are mistakes, it's not off by much.

Play it with a medium shuffle feel. Use your right hand for muting and accent the upstrokes a little. As an alternative, you could use a G - G/F# - Em and give the F# in the bass a good thump at the end of the chorus section to accent the chord motion. As a final note, at the very end of the song, you'll want to do an octave slide up on the 6th string from G to G for the final close.

I've never seen anything like this done on Youtube before so if anybody has comments or suggestions for improving this video or other ones I plan on doing feel free to send me a message or leave a comment.

  • I believe the original is actually played using key of E blues chords with a capo on the second fret. Guitar tutorial on my page...

  • @howtotuneaguitar Actually, I believe it's in the key of G with the capo on the second fret. It sounds most right the way I've got it. And if you dig around you can find some live vids of him playing it in G, along with most of the covers as well. But like with anything its not carved in stone so as long as you're using the I - IV - V -vi -I it'll work out fine. And if anybody doesn't know the numbering system for chords I would strongly suggest learning it. It's worth it's weight in gold.

  • @jumbofrets2011 what did you change the pitch to?

  • @golffreak246 if i remember right i changed the pitch by a whole step. The original is played with the chords I used her but with a capo on the second fret. Just make the adjustment accordingly to match the original.

  • im just startin to learn guitar so itll take me a while to play this but its already super helpful ill sub and check for more. do u plan on taking any suggestions for songs?

  • @teachmetofootball Sure, if you've got a request hit me up and I'll see what I can do! With all the stuff I've got going on right now I'll get to things as I can. I kind of want to keep to more simple songs that I can chord out this way and steer clear of doing the tab thing. . I'm trying to figure out an Alabama song right now for that I'm kind of stuck on a few spots. It sounds mostly right but not exactly right. So I'm hoping to get that one up inside of like a week or so.
