The design of the acoustics of this mosque is made so it reflects sound waves, resulting in the maximum distribution. Though no amplifiers are used, one would think that the sound is amplifies. This mosque was built close to 100 years ago and is located in the city of Esfhan in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Here you see a man demonstrate the acoustics using money, followed by a call to prayer.

  • excellent

  • Thanks,

You might also like my Journey to Iran series.

  • How they figured out that if they built it like that, it would reflect the sound waves, I'll never know.

  • Good comment...

Back in the days, they knew a lot about acoustics and physics... The sound waves travle outward like a ripples in water... when these sound repples hit the walls they reflect. the trick is to reflect it off a shape that would maximize the reflections by bouncing it off diffrent walls... I know this was posted a week ago... but I felt bad when you said I'll never know... let me know if you want to know more...Im all about explaining

  • Amazing. Are there any recordings besides your own from this chamber? I'm fascinated and stunned, quite frankly, and would love to learn more.

  • no one can deny the power of islam......the one true religion

  • The Umayyad and Abbasid Mosques of central Asia are breathtaking. I love the tile work used in Isfahan and Samarcande...... They're some of mankind's most wondrous monuments.

  • beautiful...

  • You cant expect a kid who is brain washed by biased, negative propaganda to know the answer. If he wants to fit in and not be isolated in school, or work the poor kid has to say something bad about Iran otherwise he is not accpeted in the group. It is called demonazing other people, so you can make yourself look good. That is what the negative propaganda about Iran attempts to do.

  • How is Iranian government destroying Iran and the world?

  • I was standing in the same spot. My Mom was there without a head covering, her long blonde hair attracting MUCH attention. I stood in that spot and sang a rendition of Glen Cambells'Rhinestone Cowboy'. We all also wore our shoes inside but because it was 1977 and the Shah had the nutjobs under control nobody threatened to behead us. I loved Isfahan, but I spell it Esfahan.

  • great design.

    thanks for sharing sweety
