This is the approach & landing i recorded whilst arriving at the 2010 Birdsville Races. It give a great veiw of the floods, township & outback party atmosphere.
UNPRECENDENTED RAINS FORCE THE CANCELLATION OF THE BIRDSVILLE CUP
Birdsville recieved a soaking on Friday forcing the cancellation of the Birdsville Cup. 20 percent of the towns annual rainfall fell during Friday and Friday night leaving the race track resembling a small inland sea. Every effort was made to drain the water but the task was too great and the remaining 8 races of the 13 race program were cancelled.
The rains both in and around Birdsville saw creeks flood forcing the closure of all roads for 3 days up to Tuesday morning. Roads have now reopened and the 3000 stranded race goers are making their way home.
Awesome - Great Amateur Video Skills. Too bad the races were washed out.
