Community Voice Mail (www.cvm.org) provides free voice mail boxes to 40,000 low-income, homeless and otherwise "phoneless" people in 45 U.S. cities. Our clients receive their boxes from a network of 2,000 social service agencies in these cities, who use CVM as a solution when their client can't answer the question "Where can I reach you?". We also send over 1,800 broadcast voice and email messages to our clients, directly informing them about jobs, events, health information, and other resources that can help.
Using our broadcast voice system, we can also ask questions and get answers from our clients. Usually, we conduct surveys and ask clients for information. In this video, we asked clients from Houston "What's the best voice mail message you've ever received?". We received over 100 wonderful, moving responses, and here present a small collection of these. The accompanying photos are of Seattle CVM clients, taken by a volunteer photographer.
We hope you enjoy this, and are inspired to help those who are experiencing homelessness.
this is a great thing!
