As the only parrot of 350+ species to actually build a stick nest, Monk or Quaker Parakeets are delightful to watch going about keeping house, getting every twig just right, and often stealing choice sticks from their next door neighbors! • I cant believe these birds are living as far north as New York? If they can survive the NY winters then why cant any parrot?

  • nice to see them nesting and growing a nice population......maybe this will make up for our carolina parrot fuckup.....we killed them all for there colorful feathers in the south

  • i told my grandma to go to new york and catch a wild quaker (known as monk parrot) because her died

  • Yup, they build their nests around transformers because of the heat they produce
